Macs have used two kinds of processor over the years, and an app has to be built for the one you have. Pick the download that matches your Mac.
Macs with an Apple M1, M2, M3 or M4 chip. Every Mac sold since late 2020.
Download for Apple Silicon Recommended for your MacMacs with an Intel processor, sold up to around 2020.
Download for IntelOpen the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen and choose About This Mac. Look for the line naming the chip or processor.
If you take the wrong one, nothing breaks. The app will simply refuse to open, and macOS may not explain why. Download the other one and it will work.
Open the disk image you downloaded and drag Setcraft onto the Applications folder. Drag it to Applications rather than running it from the disk image, so updates and backups have somewhere stable to live.
On first launch, if macOS blocks it, right-click Setcraft and choose Open once. It is signed and notarized, so that is a one-time step.
Download the version that matches the new Mac, then bring your library across with Backup and Restore. Your license moves too: if it says it is already in use, choose Deactivate all other computers on the Account & License tab, then activate on the new machine.
This comes up most when replacing an older Intel Mac. The new one takes the Apple Silicon download even though the old one took Intel. Same app, same license, same setlists.
